Oman men's national ice hockey team

Oman's national ice hockey team, The Khanjars, competes in Asian regional tournaments.

Last updated

The Omani national ice hockey team, known as The Khanjars, represents Oman in international ice hockey. The Oman Ice Sports Committee oversees the team, which holds associate membership in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Oman does not appear in the IIHF World Ranking and has never competed in a World Championship or Olympic Games. However, the team has participated in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional event for lower-tier Asian hockey nations. In the specialized Asian ranking, Oman sits in 25th place.

Oman played its first official match in 2010 at the inaugural Gulf Ice Hockey Championship, losing all three games against Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The team returned for the Second Ice Hockey Gulf Cup in 2012, playing five matches. They won two and lost three, finishing third and earning a bronze medal.
