Omega Lithium formed in 2007 with an initial lineup that included vocalist Andrea Zuppani, who was replaced by Mya Mortensen in 2008. The band's debut album, Dreams in Formaline, was released in 2009, and its first single 'Stigmata' peaked at number 4 on the MTV Adria Rock chart, receiving constant airplay for over two months. The music video appeared on European and worldwide TV stations and garnered more than a quarter of a million views on YouTube, the highest for a debut song in its genre.

In late 2009, the band toured with German folk metal band Subway to Sally on their Kreuzfeuer tour from 18 to 30 December. In 2010, they headlined the second stage at Metal Camp 2010, appeared at Wave Gothic Treffen, and concluded the Dreams in Formaline tour at Metal Female Voices Fest 2010. A North American version of the debut album was released by Artoffact Records on 6 April 2010, including a bonus track.

The band's second and final album, Kinetik, was released in 2011 via Drakkar Entertainment/Sony Music. It was recorded at Horus Studio in Hannover, co-produced by guitarist Malice Rime and produced by Žare Pak. Omega Lithium disbanded in 2011. Afterward, members formed or joined other bands: Malice Rime and Zoltan Harpax formed industrial folk metal band Manntra, while Torsten Nihill joined Croatian death/thrash metal band Monox.
