Manntra was formed in 2011 after the disbandment of Omega Lithium, with members Marko Matijević Sekul and Zoltan Lečei immediately recruiting Andrea Kert on drums and Marko Purišić on guitar. The band released its debut EP, Horizont, in 2012, followed by Venera in 2015 and Meridian in 2017, all in Croatian. In 2019, they pivoted to English with the album Oyka!, which became the first by a Croatian band to enter the German Billboard, and participated in Dora 2019, the Croatian Eurovision selection, with the song 'In the Shadows,' placing fourth.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the band released the conceptual album Monster Mind Consuming in 2021, which explored themes of war and personal struggle.
