X Factor India

Indian adaptation of the British music talent show.

X Factor India brought the global music competition format to Indian television, airing its first season on Sony Entertainment Television. The 2011 edition was open to Indian citizens born before 15 January 1995. Contestants could enter in three categories: solo singers aged 16 to 24, solo singers aged 25 and older, and groups of two or more people all at least 16 years old. Each category received one-third of the reservation draws. Weekly live concerts took place in Mumbai, where twelve finalists performed before the judges and a studio audience. The show was judged by singer Sonu Nigam, playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, and film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with Aditya Narayan hosting. Geet Sagar from Gwalior won the season, taking home Rs. 50 lakh, a car, and a chance to sing in a Karan Johar film. He later recorded the title track "Draamebaaz" for the 2013 movie Nautanki Saala! and has sung for commercials and jingles.
