Chimera Ant Queen
The mutated queen whose hunger for humans begins the Chimera Ant crisis.
The Chimera Ant Queen is the first Chimera Ant seen in Hunter × Hunter, mutated to about two metres tall when her kind normally stands about ten centimetres. She washes up injured on the shore of Neo-Green Life (NGL), a small nation in the Mitene Union.

Lore & Background
Chimera Ant queens reproduce through phagogenesis, passing the traits of whatever they eat on to their young. Driven to produce an ideal King, she feeds on small mammals and sea life to breed soldiers who bring her bigger prey. When a soldier brings two human children, she finds humans more nourishing and becomes obsessed with eating them, sending her soldiers to gather more. NGL's rejection of modern technology lets her brood spread unopposed until outsiders learn of it.
The King forces his own early birth, wrecking her organs and causing heavy blood loss. Hunters treat her, but she dies after naming her son Meruem. After her death it turns out she also bore a twin sister to Meruem, later revealed to be Kite reborn as a Chimera Ant.
