Quick Facts

Victim
Laenor Velaryon

Lore & Background

In Fire & Blood, Laenor was slain by his companion and rumored lover Ser Qarl Correy in Spicetown; the court fool Mushroom claimed the killing was arranged by Daemon, who had supposedly paid Qarl to do it.

Reader's Guide

In House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra and Daemon agree at Laena Velaryon's funeral on Driftmark to unite against Alicent, but cannot marry while Laenor is alive. Daemon visits Laenor's lover Ser Qarl Correy with a proposition; Qarl challenges Laenor to a duel in High Tide's hall and appears to murder him, and Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenys find a charred body in the hearth. Laenor's death has been faked: he and Qarl flee by boat into exile in Essos, and Daemon and Rhaenyra marry in the old Valyrian tradition.
