Human-Covenant War
The war between humanity and the Covenant that frames the main Halo games.
The Human-Covenant War is the conflict at the centre of the Halo series. It begins when the Covenant, searching for Forerunner relics, find humans at the colony Harvest; the Covenant leadership learn that the Forerunners designated humanity their reclaimers and, to keep their religion's falsehoods hidden, start a genocidal war.
Lore & Background
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is set in 2526 in the war's early days, 31 years before Halo 4. By 2552 almost all human colonies have fallen; the Covenant invade Reach and then Earth, and the war ends after Halo 3, where a memorial service on Earth honours the fallen.
