Bewized

Greek groove metal/metalcore band formed in 2007.

Bewized

Bewized is a Greek groove metal and metalcore band from Thessaloniki, founded in 2007 by brothers Paschalis and Pantazis Theotokis. The quartet first made its mark on the underground scene with a self-funded demo EP, *Carved Upon Your Bones*, released in 2008 and well-received by local critics. In late 2010, the band signed with Casket Music (part of the UK’s Copro Records) for the worldwide release of their debut album, *The Scorch of Rage*. That same year, they released their first official music video, directed by Bob Katsionis, for the track "Laceration of Innocence." The album gained global exposure through various media outlets, and the band promoted it with shows including a UK tour in July 2011. Around this time, drummer Kostis Tatsis left and was replaced by Akis Tsiantis.

Bewized recorded their second album in December 2012 at StelthSound / Red House Studios, with production, mixing, and mastering handled by Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Arkaea) in Ontario, Canada. In March 2013, they announced guest vocalists Jon Howard and Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork) on the record. Later that year, they signed with Noisehead Records, which released *Undead Legacy* worldwide on 28 October 2013. To support the album, they toured Greece in December 2013 and later opened for Caliban, Unearth, and Adept. The band also completed two European tours: "The Tempest Across Europe Tour Pt. 1" (seven countries, February–March 2015) and "Pt. 2" (five countries, April–July 2016).

Musically, Bewized blends the heavy grooves of bands like Machine Head and Lamb of God with metalcore elements from Trivium and Killswitch Engage. Their sound features heavy, groovy riffs, aggressive breakdowns, and clean-sung choruses. The band has released one demo EP (*Carved Upon Your Bones*, 2008) and two studio albums: *The Scorch of Rage* (2011) and *Undead Legacy* (2013). They are currently signed to Noisehead Records.

In November 2010, they signed with Casket Music for the worldwide release of their debut album, The Scorch of Rage, and released their first official video for 'Laceration of Innocence', directed by Bob Katsionis. The album brought global exposure, and they toured the UK in July 2011. Drummer Kostis Tatsis left the band and was replaced by Akis Tsiantis.

Their sophomore album, Undead Legacy, was recorded in December 2012 and released on 28 October 2013 via Noisehead Records. It featured guest vocals from Jon Howard and Björn 'Speed' Strid. Reader's Guide

Bewized represents a Greek contribution to the new wave of American heavy metal (NWOAHM), blending groove metal and metalcore influences from bands like Machine Head, Lamb of God, Trivium, and Killswitch Engage. Their sound is characterized by heavy groovy riffs, aggressive breakdowns, and clean-sung choruses. Though they achieved only moderate commercial success, their two studio albums—The Scorch of Rage (2011) and Undead Legacy (2013)—garnered positive reviews and international exposure, including UK and European tours. The band's significance lies in their role within the Greek metal scene, demonstrating that local acts could secure deals with international labels (Casket Music, Noisehead Records) and collaborate with prominent metal figures. Their legacy is that of a dedicated underground act that maintained a consistent output and touring presence over a decade.
