History

Dirtyphonics got their start in 2004 and hit the stage for the first time two years later. The original lineup for the first couple of years was Charly, Thomas Desbouvrie, and Pho, with PitchIn joining in 2008. The group draws inspiration from Daft Punk and Pendulum, plus metal acts like Metallica and Korn. Charly notes that most of them came from metal bands, and their goal was always a sound that was powerful, high-impact, and precise. That metal energy translated directly into the electronic dance music they made. In 2008, they signed with Shimon’s AudioPorn Records and dropped their debut single "French Fk," which hit number one on Beatport and held that spot for weeks. The follow-ups "Quarks" and "Vandals" confirmed their rise, showing off their signature heavy, shifting low-end style. They became in-demand remixers, working on tracks for Skrillex, The Bloody Beetroots, Marilyn Manson, Benny Benassi, Excision, Datsik, Borgore, Nero, and Linkin Park. Thomas left the group in 2013 to pursue a solo career as Matheo de Bruvisso. In 2009, they won "Best Newcomer Producer" at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards. Over the next three years, they headlined sold-out shows around the world alongside Skrillex, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, and DJ Snake, and played major festivals like EDC, Glastonbury, SXSW, Pukkelpop, WMC, and Tomorrowland. On March 19, they released their debut album Irreverence on Dim Mak Records. The record blends anthemic electro, frantic drum-step, thrash guitars, and pounding drums, featuring collaborations with Steve Aoki, Foreign Beggars, and Modestep.
