Gamefam

History

Joe Ferencz founded Gamefam in 2019 in Los Angeles, California, and served as its CEO until 2026. His earlier work involved bringing Hot Wheels into the Forza series and Rocket League, during which he observed Roblox's success as a free-to-play platform. Ferencz described the company as the first fully-dedicated professional game publishing company on Roblox, recruiting veteran developers. In November 2020, Gamefam partnered with Mattel to release Hot Wheels Open World on Roblox.

The company made a financial investment in the RoMonitor Stats platform in 2021 and subsequently acquired its parent company, Silicon Digital. In March 2022, Gamefam announced a $25 million Series A funding round led by Konvoy Ventures, with participation from Play Ventures, Makers Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Galaxy Interactive. The following month, it released Sonic Speed Simulator with Sega of America, which became the largest launch on Roblox with 70 million plays and 275,000 concurrent players in its first week.

In October 2022, Gamefam partnered with Spin Master and Feld Entertainment to introduce Monster Jam into Roblox. In February 2023, it partnered with Paramount Games Studio and Nickelodeon to develop Roblox experiences for SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
