Night of the Hunchback

Plot

Asghar Ghuzi, a hunchback, belongs to a Persian traditional comedy troupe that performs in theatres or in the homes of wealthy people. After a private show at a rich couple's residence, the hostess gives him a piece of paper listing smugglers, which he is to deliver to someone. Asghar goes to the city suburbs to dine with friends, but dies accidentally when a friend forces food into his mouth. Shocked, his friends dump the corpse next to a barbershop. The barbershop owners, who are smugglers preparing for a trip, move the body into the yard of a house where a wedding is taking place. When they leave, police become suspicious. The bride's father discovers the corpse and takes it out of town. The hostess learns of Asghar's death and pursues a drunken man who found the list in Asghar's pocket. They are traced to a bakery, where police arrest the woman, the man, and his collaborators.
