Plot
A king banishes his first wife after an astrologer predicts he will lose his sight because of her son Dasan. Dasan and his mother live in the woods; when he unknowingly meets his father, the king goes blind. Learning the truth from his mother, Dasan journeys to the kingdom of Bakavali to obtain a rare flower that can restore the king's vision. He wins a debate with Queen Bakavali, defeats a crook in a dice contest, and rescues a slave dancer. The three women he helps are revealed to be princesses and siblings. Dasan's stepbrothers attempt to steal the flower but are exposed.
Soundtrack
The music for the film was created by the duo Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy, with Thanjai N. Ramaiah Dass penning the lyrics. The track "Mayakkum Maalai" stands out as an early movie song using the Carnatic raga Bageshri. Originally written by K. V. Mahadevan for Ramanna's delayed film Koondukkili (1954), it was repurposed here, and the credit went to Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy instead.
