The Fate/stay night route of Rin and Archer, and the sword-strewn Reality Marble behind Archer's Projection.
Unlimited Blade Works is the second of the three routes of the Fate/stay night visual novel. Its heroine is Rin Tohsaka, secretly a mage and the Master of Archer, and Archer is the route's Servant protagonist. All of Archer's Projection abilities come from his Reality Marble, which appears as a desert strewn with swords under a smoggy sky in which huge black gears turn.
Lore & Background
Projection normally cannot produce lasting or powerful objects, but Archer's own approach to the craft lets him create very strong, accurate copies of the images stored in his mind. Archer is in fact an adult Shirou Emiya from one possible future, who made a pact with the world to become an "ally of justice" and now acts as a Counter Guardian outside time and space. In this route, after Shirou refuses to give up his ideal of saving everyone, Archer betrays Rin and tries to kill Shirou so that he will never become like him. Studio Deen adapted the route as a film released in January 2010, and Ufotable made a television series of it that aired from October 2014 to June 2015.
