Deadites are people or corpses possessed by the evil the Book of the Dead releases. The Evil Dead (1981) introduced them together with Ash Williams and the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, and every film and the TV series since has used them.

Reader's Guide
In the first film Ash's sister and friends are possessed one after another. In Army of Darkness Ash's evil double rises from the dead, gathers the Deadites into the Army of Darkness and leads it against Arthur's castle. In Evil Dead Burn the Kandarian Dagger is the weapon that can banish Deadites back to Hell.
