United Kingdom
Five wins and a record sixteen second places for the BBC's entries.
The United Kingdom first took part in 1957 and its broadcaster is the BBC. It has won five times: Sandie Shaw's "Puppet on a String" (1967), Lulu's "Boom Bang-a-Bang" (1969, a four-way tie), Brotherhood of Man's "Save Your Kisses for Me", Bucks Fizz's "Making Your Mind Up" (1981) and Katrina and the Waves' "Love Shine a Light" (1997). It also holds the record of sixteen second-place finishes, and as one of the largest financial contributors to the EBU it qualifies automatically for the final.
