The Four-Way Tie 1969
Four countries share first place at the 1969 contest in Madrid.
The 1969 contest, the 14th edition, was held on 29 March 1969 at the Teatro Real in Madrid, presented by Laurita Valenzuela, after Massiel's win for Spain in 1968. Sixteen countries took part. When voting closed, four entries were level and, because the rules then allowed more than one winner, all four were declared joint winners: Spain with "Vivo cantando" by Salome, the United Kingdom with "Boom Bang-a-Bang" by Lulu, the Netherlands with "De troubadour" by Lenny Kuhr, and France with "Un jour, un enfant" by Frida Boccara. It was the first tie for first place in the contest's history.
