Eurovision Song Contest 2017
Salvador Sobral's "Amar pelos dois" gives Portugal its first win, in Kyiv.
The 62nd contest had semi-finals on 9 and 11 May and a final on 13 May 2017 at the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv, after Jamala's "1944" won for Ukraine in 2016. It was presented by Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko, the first contest since 1956 without a female host. Forty-two countries took part; one withdrew after its chosen singer, Julia Samoylova, was banned from entering Ukraine. Portugal won with "Amar pelos dois" by Salvador Sobral, its first win at the 49th attempt.
