Plot

More than a thousand years before the events of Dune, a band of immortal cyborg warriors known as the Titans conquered the universe inside unbreakable cymek bodies. They then lost control to an artificial intelligence called Omnius. This machine and the Titans ruled five hundred worlds of the Synchronized Worlds with brutality, while a small alliance of free planets called the League of Nobles fought back. A key rebel was Serena Butler. When the independent robot Erasmus killed her young son, it ignited the Butlerian Jihad, a nearly century-long war that ended with humanity's victory at the Battle of Corrin. This crusade against machines led to the creation of the Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild, the Sardaukar army, the Landsraad, and House Corrino, whose Padishah Emperors would rule for ten thousand years.
