Holtzman Shield
Personal force shield built on the Holtzman effect.
In Dune the Holtzman effect is used to produce defensive force shields that let through only objects moving below a pre-set velocity, so shield fighters must strike slowly to get past them. If a lasgun beam hits a shield, the result is a nuclear-scale explosion of unpredictable size. In Children of Dune the Fremen use a small "pseudo-shield" to attract and madden a sandworm.
