Piter De Vries

Logic weaponized by sadism; the Mentat who chose hate over neutrality.

Piter De Vries is a character from the 1965 science fiction novel Dune. He is a Mentat, a human computer, but one twisted by cruelty. Unlike the ideal of a neutral, emotionless Mentat, Piter is a sadist who uses his analytical mind for torture and manipulation. In Dune he is the architect of the plan to destroy House Atreides and restore the Baron's stewardship of Arrakis. His presence in the story embodies the corruption of the Mentat art, where logic is weaponized by personal hatred.
