Shin
The East Supreme Kai of Universe 7, the last of its five Supreme Kai.
Shin is the East Supreme Kai, originally the ruler of the eastern quadrant of Universe 7, who became the de facto ruler of the whole universe after the demise of his peers. His true name is Nahare, and he is the sibling of Arinsu and Degesu, all three born from the same Glind Tree in the Demon Realm. He is always accompanied by his attendant Kibito.
Lore & Background
Universe 7 originally had five Supreme Kai: four ruled its quadrants and a fifth, the Dai Supreme Kai, ruled over them. All but Shin met their fate at the hands of Majin Buu before the events of Dragon Ball. Like all Supreme Kai, he watches over both the living world and the Other World, and wears the Potara earrings that allow fusion and the use of a Time Ring.
Reader's Guide
Shin is voiced by Yūji Mitsuya and Shinichirō Ōta in Dragon Ball Super and Battle of Gods. In English he is voiced by Kent Williams in Funimation's dub and by Michael Dobson in the Ocean Group dub.
In the Dragon Ball manga Shin comes to Earth to meet Goku and his friends and recruit them to stop Babidi from reviving Majin Buu. After Buu returns, Gohan trains on Shin's planet with the Z Sword; when it breaks, it releases an elder ancestor of the East Supreme Kai, who stays on as Shin's advisor. Shin and Kibito fuse permanently into Kibito Kai through their Potara earrings, help Goku in the final battle with Buu, and are only separated between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Daima by Majin Buu's gases.
