Chinese divers swept all eight gold medals for the first time.
The diving program at the 2024 Paris Olympics ran from July 27 to August 10 at the Paris Aquatics Centre. In total, 136 athletes—split evenly between men and women—competed in eight events, matching the number of events from the Tokyo 2020 Games. For the first time, Chinese divers claimed gold in every event, setting a record with eight gold medals. Great Britain, which had won at least one gold since 2016, failed to do so but still set a national record with five total medals, making them the only team besides China to win more than two. They finished second in the medal table for the third consecutive Olympics. The remaining eight medals were shared among six other nations.
Qualification for the 136 spots was also balanced by gender. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could enter up to two divers per individual event and one pair per synchronized event, with a maximum of 16 divers (eight per gender) per country. All divers had to be at least 14 years old by December 31, 2023, and had to have competed in World Aquatics-approved international meets.
For individual events, spots were allocated as follows: the top 12 finalists from each event at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan (July 14–30) earned a quota for their NOC. The winners of each event at one of five continental qualification meets (Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania) also earned a spot. At the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar (February 2–18), the 12 highest-ranked divers eligible for qualification in each event earned quotas, respecting the two-per-NOC limit and the overall 136 quota. Additional spots were reallocated to divers placed 13th or higher at the 2024 World Championships, again respecting the two-per-NOC limit, until the 136 quota was filled. As host, France received four men’s and four women’s spots to distribute across individual events.
In synchronized events, each of the eight teams per event was composed of: the top three pairs (medalists) from the 2023 World Championships, the top four pairs from the 2024 World Championships, and one spot reserved for France.
A total of 136 divers from 32 NOCs qualified.
