The diving events at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place from August 10 to 23 at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. Both men and women competed in four events: the 3m springboard, the 10m platform, and the synchronized versions of each.
For individual events, the competition was split into three rounds: preliminaries, semifinals, and finals. The order of divers in the preliminaries was set by a computer-generated random draw during the Technical Meeting. The 18 divers with the top scores from the preliminaries advanced to the semifinals. From there, the 12 highest-scoring divers moved on to the final round.
Each National Olympic Committee could enter up to two qualified divers per individual event and one team per synchronized event. Qualifying spots for each event were allocated according to a specific system.
