Plot

In the city of Hamelin, a large population of rats grows and consumes all available food. The mayor offers a bag of gold to anyone who can eliminate the rats. The Pied Piper appears and offers his services, playing a tune on his pipe that hypnotizes the rodents to follow him out of town. He then creates a wheel of cheese with his pipe, luring the rats into its holes, and makes the cheese vanish.

When the Piper returns, the mayor refuses to pay the promised gold, giving him only one coin while the adults laugh. Furious, the Piper decides to take the children away to prevent them from becoming like the adults. The mayor and adults dismiss him, believing the locked town gate will keep everyone inside. However, the Piper charms the children into following him and enchants the gate to rip itself open, allowing them to leave.

The mayor is left to face the wrath of the adults. The Piper leads the children to an enchanted land in the mountains, where they live happily ever after.
