Plot

The story starts with water lilies unfurling, each holding a tiny sleeping baby just two inches tall. They all wake up and jump into the water, except for one hesitant redheaded baby, who gets a firm spanking from its lily to help it along. While the others play, this redheaded baby is repeatedly dunked by two companions, eventually popping up bottom-first and getting spanked back under. Then, flowers are used like horns to signal, and the babies ride swans, fish, turtles, or leaf boats to the shore.

There, they swing on vines and play with animals. In one scene, three babies in leaf chaps ride frogs like rodeo cowboys. Another shows a baby bullfighter, wearing only a grass sash and an acorn hat, trying to take on a bullfrog, but the frog traps him and takes a bow. Finally, the babies ride back to their lily pads, recite the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep prayer, and settle into their flower beds.
