Last updated
Club Xolos USA U-23, formerly Deportivo Coras USA, is an American soccer team based in Riverside, California. It is affiliated with Mexican side Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente. The club competes in the National Premier Soccer League's Southwest Conference, having joined as an expansion team in 2014.
History
Founded in 1966–67 as an amateur affiliate, the club soon entered the Belvedere Soccer League in East Los Angeles, capturing league titles in 1967 and 1968. It moved to the California League in 1969, competing there for more than three decades before joining the So-Cal Premier League.
On November 20, 2014, the club announced its entry into the NPSL, debuting in the 2015 season. It previously held an affiliation with Deportivo Tepic FC. In November 2019, the team rebranded as Club Xolos USA U-23, forming a new partnership with Club Tijuana.
Rivalry
The team's sole rival is Temecula FC, with their matchup called the Riverside County Derby because both clubs are in the same county. In 2019, the first match in Temecula ended 0-0, while the second match hosted by Riverside saw the Quails earn their first NPSL win against Riverside, 2–1. Since 2016, the two teams have held an off-season tournament, the Riverside County Cup, running October through November and open to local NPSL and UPSL teams. Coras won the Cup for the first time on November 10, 2019, beating two-time defending champion Temecula 4–0.
