History
The Amarillo Dillas were a charter member of the independent Texas–Louisiana League, formed in 1994. They claimed the regular season champion title in 1995, 1998, and 2000, won the first half championship in 1997, and were the 1999 Texas–Louisiana League champions. The league was renamed the Central Baseball League in 2002, and after expansion the Dillas averaged only 846 fans in their 2004 championship series appearance. A neglected stadium and erosion of local fan support led to the Dillas being dropped from the Central League after the 2004 season in favor of the El Paso Diablos. The team returned in 2006 as a charter member of the independent United League Baseball. New management renovated the entire stadium, including a new field and new seats. The Dillas missed the playoffs in their first two seasons, then posted a 54–37 record in 2008, claiming first-half champion honors and defeating Alexandria for their first league championship since 1999. In 2009 they went 44–35 and defeated San Angelo for another title, and in 2010 they won again, becoming the first United League three-peat champions. In October 2010, the Dillas were evicted from Potter County Memorial Stadium after Reunion Sports Group could not pay the $75,000 lease. Potter County commissioners awarded the 2011 stadium use to Scott Berry, and the Dillas were replaced by the Amarillo Sox for the 2011 season.
