History
In the first half of the 2002 season, the Black Bears finished last in the North Division with a 14-31 record, tying the Allentown Ambassadors for the worst mark in the league. Their second-half record of 10-34 was also the worst in the league. Over 43 home games they drew 56,295 fans, an average of 1,309 per game, both near the bottom of the league. Manager George Scott was replaced for 2003 by Darren Bush, and Jim Dedrick was hired as pitching coach. The team improved to 41-51, but that was still the second-worst record in the league. Attendance fell to 43,846, averaging 946 per game, again ranking poorly.
