History

The Brockton Rox began play in 2002 as members of the East Division of the Northern League. In 2003, the Eastern clubs split from the Northern League to form the Northeast League, where the Rox competed in 2003 and 2004. The Northeast League rebranded as the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (Can-Am League) in 2005. On May 23, 2005, the team gave a roster spot to former Boston Red Sox pitcher Oil Can Boyd. That same year, the Rox made headlines by offering a position to Theo Epstein. In 2006, the Rox finished 49–43 and qualified as the third seed in the Can-Am League playoffs. They defeated the New Haven County Cutters 3–1 in the opening round. In the Championship Series, Brockton fell behind 2–0 to the Quebec Capitales, then tied the series at 2–2. In the deciding fifth game, the Rox led 3–2 into the eighth inning, but Quebec rallied to win 5–4, giving Quebec its first Can-Am League championship. Designated hitter Guye Senjem was named the Rox Most Valuable Player for 2006, tying the franchise mark for home runs in a season with 14 and leading the team in home runs and RBIs. Right-handed pitcher John Kelly, acquired in a trade with the New Jersey Jackals in June, was named Most Valuable Pitcher, going 8–1 with a 1.92 ERA in 15 appearances. In 2012, the Rox announced they would join the Futures Collegiate Baseball League while retaining rights to rejoin the Can-Am League for 2013; they remained in the FCBL, and the Can-Am League later merged with the Frontier League. In January 2025, the collegiate team folded, and the professional New England Knockouts were renamed the Brockton Rox.

Logos and uniforms

The official colors of the Brockton Rox are navy blue, red, and silver. The primary logo originally featured the "Rox" wordmark in red with a navy blue outline and a pair of boxing gloves. In 2024, the Rox adopted a modified version of the Chicago White Sox logo used from 1976 to 1990, with "SOX" replaced by "ROX". The game cap is navy blue with a red "B" logo outlined in white. After the 2010 season, the team adopted new colors; previously they wore teal, cream, brown, and black. Some inaugural uniforms had "ROX" across the chest with "ROCKS" as an inverse shadow, while others reversed that arrangement.
