Lore & Background
The game follows Conker, a greedy, hard-drinking red squirrel who must return home to his girlfriend, Berri, after an evening of heavily drinking at the local pub. The setting is the Fairy Panther King's Kingdom. The plot involves Conker's quest to return home, his entanglement with the Panther King, the Weasel Mafia, and a war between grey squirrels and Tediz. Berri is killed, and Conker ultimately battles a creature named Heinrich aboard a spaceship.
In Their Own Story
The island is mid-afternoon, the kind of bright, oversaturated blue that makes everything look like a postcard someone spilled a pint on. Conker stands at the lip of a wooden dock, his bottle catching the sun, and the camera drifts slowly behind him so you can see the whole stretch of rotting planks ahead, the gulls wheeling overhead, the distant silhouette of a pirate ship rocking in the swell. He tips his head, snorts, and the bottle swings in a lazy arc. The camera follows the swing, then snaps back to his face as he grins at you — not at the world, at you — before he drops off the dock and the whole island tilts three degrees to the left to keep him in frame. That tilt, that little nod of the camera, is the entire relationship. You are not in the world. You are behind the badger, and the badger knows it.
Reader's Guide
The player controls Conker through three-dimensional levels. Gameplay involves completing a linear sequence of challenges, including jumping, solving puzzles, and fighting enemies. Conker can run, jump, smack enemies with a frying pan, swim underwater, climb ladders or ropes, and push objects. Context-sensitive pads grant temporary abilities. A multiplayer mode supports up to four players in seven game types: Beach, Raptor, Heist, War, Tank, Race, and Deathmatch.
