Playing career

Letowski began his major junior career with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, where he was named the team's Rookie of the Year for 1994–95. After his third OHL season, he played the 1997–98 season with the Springfield Falcons, the Coyotes' AHL affiliate. He made his NHL debut in 1998–99 and became a regular with Phoenix for two full seasons. On December 28, 2001, the Coyotes traded him, along with Todd Warriner and Tyler Bouck, to the Vancouver Canucks for Drake Berehowsky and Denis Pederson. He signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets as an unrestricted free agent on July 3, 2003, and played two seasons for them, split by a term with HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the Swiss Nationalliga A during the 2004–05 NHL lockout. He joined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent on July 6, 2006, and played there for two seasons. During a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 14, 2006, he was hit by Colby Armstrong and knocked unconscious, leaving the ice on a stretcher with no penalty assessed. In August 2008, he joined Barys Astana of the KHL as a free agent, and retired after the 2009–10 season.

Coaching career

Letowski returned to the Sarnia Sting as an assistant coach on April 17, 2010. After Dave MacQueen was fired as head coach and GM on February 6, 2011, Letowski served as interim head coach for 18 games, going 7–10–1, and the Sting missed the playoffs. He returned to an assistant role under Jacques Beaulieu in 2011–12 before being promoted to head coach on June 14, 2013. He was hired by the Windsor Spitfires as an assistant coach on July 9, 2015, and became their head coach in 2017 after Rocky Thompson left.
