San Francisco Giants

One of the two NL West powers that have kept the Rockies from a division title.

The San Francisco Giants, founded in 1883 as the New York Gothams and in San Francisco since 1958, play at Oracle Park and have been the Rockies' NL West rivals since 1993. The Rockies' club history names the Giants and Dodgers as the division winners that most often ended Colorado's postseason hopes.

Background

The Rockies have never won the NL West, while the Giants and Dodgers have combined for 21 division titles since Colorado began play. Some of the Rockies' memorable regular-season moments came against San Francisco: on August 24, 2009, Ryan Spilborghs hit the club's first walk-off grand slam in the 14th inning against the Giants, and Nolan Arenado broke the club record by homering in a sixth straight game against them on a September 5.
