Sunny Hill debuted in September 2007 as a co-ed group with members Janghyun, Jubi, and Seung Ah (later known as Bitna). Their first release was the single album Love Letter. After a musical hiatus, the group changed labels to Nega Network, where new members Kota (2010) and Misung (2011) joined. Under Nega Network, they featured on Narsha's digital single "Mamma Mia" and released the hit "Pit-A-Pat" for the drama The Greatest Love. The group then moved to LOEN Entertainment and released their first extended play Midnight Circus in June 2011, followed by the ballad "Pray," which charted in the Top 10 of the Gaon Chart.

In 2012, Sunny Hill released the maxi-single "The Grasshoppers," which peaked at No. 4 on the Gaon Chart. Janghyun entered mandatory military service in January 2012 and was discharged in October 2013. The group promoted as a four-member girl group with the digital single "Is the White Horse Coming?" in April 2012, which topped several music sites. Subsequent releases included the extended plays Antique Romance (2012) and Young Folk (2013), as well as a collaboration single with Daybreak. After Janghyun left in 2014, Sunny Hill released their first studio album Sunny Blues in two parts and the single album Way in 2016. The group left LOEN Entertainment in 2017.

In 2019, Sunny Hill joined BOD Entertainment with Bitna, Kota, and two new members Eunju and Geonhee, after Jubi and Misung left. Kota left the group in 2020, and as of 2025, Bitna is the only remaining member, releasing solo music under the group's name.
