TH5

Where the village grows teeth and the sky learns to fear.

Town Hall 5 is the fifth tier of the player's Home Village in Clash of Clans, marking the point where a fledgling settlement truly becomes a fortified town. By the time a player reaches TH5, the village has shed its early, sparse look: walls form proper enclosures, defensive towers are layered in concentric rings, and the central wooden Town Hall—now a sturdier, multi-story structure topped with a proud flag—anchors a layout that demands real strategic thought. In the broader progression arc, TH5 sits squarely in the mid-game. It is the level where the player's army begins to feel genuinely dangerous, where aerial and ground compositions start to matter, and where the first serious clan wars feel less like a formality and more like a contest. For many players, TH5 is also the moment the game stops being a tutorial and starts being a strategy puzzle.

Lore & Background

In the world of Clash of Clans, every village begins as a single wooden hut on a patch of grass. By the time the Town Hall reaches its fifth form, that hut has been replaced by a proper hall—taller, wider, studded with timber beams and a flag that snaps in the wind. The surrounding land has been claimed: elixir collectors bubble with violet liquid, gold mines churn steadily, and dark elixir collectors hum with a deeper, stranger energy. The player's warriors, once a handful of grunt barbarians, now include the thunderous Wall Breaker and the ominous Balloon, a sight that makes even seasoned defenders check their air defenses twice.

Clans in this era are forming their identities. The Clan War screen, once a novelty, is now a weekly ritual. Players at TH5 begin to understand that a well-placed Inferno Tower or a cleverly hidden X-Bow can turn a raid from a massacre into a stalemate. The Laboratory and Workshop, now at higher levels, let the player tinker with troop upgrades and equipment, adding a layer of long-term planning that the early game never demanded.

There is a particular pride in reaching TH5. The village looks finished in a way the earlier levels never did—walls are thick, the layout is intentional, and the Town Hall itself feels like a seat of authority rather than a placeholder. It is the level where a player stops thinking about surviving and starts thinking about dominating.

Reader's Guide

Welcome to your TH5 Home Village. Step through the outer wall and you'll notice the layout has shifted from the open, single-ring design of TH1–TH3 into a proper two- or three-ring fortress. The Town Hall sits at or near the center, and around it you'll find your core defenses clustered: Cannons and Archer Towers guarding the ground approaches, an Air Defense and Mortar covering the aerial lanes, and—new to this tier—X-Bows and Inferno Towers adding long-range and sustained-damage layers that weren't present at lower levels.

The resource buildings (Elixir Collectors, Gold Mines, Dark Elixir Collectors) are tucked into the outer ring or tucked behind wall segments, a deliberate choice that forces attackers to commit troops before they can strip your economy. Barracks and Army Camps are positioned to minimize the distance your troops travel to the enemy's core. Mechanically, TH5 is where the game's defensive toolkit really opens up. You now have access to a wider spread of tower types, meaning your layout can create distinct kill-zones: a ground pocket for Hog Riders, an aerial corridor for Balloons, and a mixed area where Wizards and Golems get shredded.

The Laboratory lets you upgrade troop and spell levels, and the Workshop produces equipment that adds another tactical layer. Visually, the TH5 Town Hall is a warm, honey-toned wooden structure—two or three stories, a broad flagpole, and a slightly weathered look that says this place has been here a while. The palette is richer than the early game: deeper greens in the grass, more saturated elixir glows, and the dark elixir collectors adding a moody purple accent. It feels like a village that has stopped being a prototype and started being a home.
