Monster High: Fright On!

Monster High: Fright On! is a 2D-animated TV special for kids that blends fantasy and comedy. It first aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on October 30, 2011. As the second film or special based on Mattel's Monster High doll line—following New Ghoul @ School—it connects to the "School's Out" and "Dead Tired" doll series, which were released separately from the production.

Plot

The story picks up after New Ghoul @ School but fits more closely with the regular webisodes, taking place during what would be Volume 2 of the series. At the Maul, the ghouls are waiting for a new Twiheart movie when they overhear whispers about a feud between vampires and werewolves—though the gossip actually stems from toilet paper stuck to Draculaura's boot. Back at school, Headmistress Bloodgood announces a merger with Belfry Prep (all vampires) and Crescent Moon High (all werewolves), hoping to unite all monsters and eventually humans.

Draculaura and Clawdeen are uneasy, but Frankie sees it as a positive step, especially when the Fear Squad is put in charge of welcoming the new students. Despite a killer setup from Abbey and the ghouls, the arrival of vampires Bram Devein and Gory Fangtell, along with werewolf Dougey, quickly turns sour. Romulus, Clawd's childhood friend, warns the werewolves to behave.

The first day is chaotic. Vampires and werewolves claim species-only zones. Cleo clashes with Gory over control of the Fear Squad, and Romulus is upset to learn Clawd is dating a vampire. Frankie suggests a dance to bridge the divide, even turning Jackson Jekyll into Holt Hyde to help.

But Administrator Van Hellscream, a Normie in charge of monster-human relations, shows up and sabotages everything. He and his assistant, Crabgrass, take over Monster High, secretly fueling the conflict under the guise of keeping peace. Howleen, Clawd and Clawdeen's younger sister, gets caught up in the tension, starting rival support groups: Vampowerment and Were Pride. Romulus subtly drives Draculaura and Clawd apart until they break up.

Frankie suspects something is wrong and uncovers a dark secret: Crabgrass has turned Bloodgood to stone with Gorgon dust and taken her form, displaying the real Bloodgood as a statue in the courtyard. Only Abbey and Lagoona believe Frankie. With help from Deuce, Spectra, and Lagoona, Frankie retrieves the antidote powder.
