Characters
Chickadee 'Chick P' Pao, voiced by Shelley Longworth, is the most mature team member and the only female, displaying strong leadership skills. As a child, she played Blind Man's Bluff with her best friend Oni, who later became the villain Deadeye. She holds a personal grudge against Dr. Wasabi for destroying her home to build Wasabi World, and works as a repair technician in the park's pipes. Her battle weapon is razor fans, and she wears historical Chinese female attire; she is based on Lucy Liu. K.O. Joe, voiced by Paterson Joseph, is the most energetic and brash member, running a comic book shop by day. He excels at skateboarding and handling troubled youth, and considers himself a ladies' man. His grappling hook hair pick serves as his main weapon, and he fears insects due to childhood memories of them crawling into his afro, as well as jelly beans from having one stuck up his nose as a baby. He later learns he is the estranged son of Bantam, and is based on Jim Kelly, with a 1970s aesthetic to his clothes. Charles 'Chuckie' Chan, voiced by Rob Rackstraw in the UK and Chris Hardwick in the US, studied the fighting style 'Pow Kung' under Master Yoshi. He wears a stereotypical martial artist's outfit with a Fu Manchu moustache, teaches martial arts to the youth of Wasabi World, and uses spiritual chi energy as his weapon. He had a rival named Koby or Kobura, often uses proverbs, and is based on various Hong Kong martial artists, named after Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris; his voice changed for the US broadcast to avoid offending Asian audiences. Dr. Fish Wasabi, voiced by Paul Kaye, is the main antagonist, a small piranha in an astronaut-like suit filled with water, speaking with a German accent. He controls all of Wasabi World and commands his top henchman Bubba and Ninja Chimps; his name comes from his green wasabi-like skin, and as the title song implies, he is bad at thinking things through.
Production
Aardman co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton served as executive producers. On 1 November 2004, the series became a British/Canadian co-production when Toronto-based Decode Entertainment joined as co-producer, with its distribution arm Decode Enterprises handling worldwide distribution except the UK.
