Production

The Jim Henson Company and DHX Media, now known as WildBrain, teamed up to create this series for Kids' CBC and Hulu, with DHX Media handling distribution. Directors Larry Jacobs and Bill Gordon led the episodes, while executive producers included Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford from Henson, plus Steven DeNure and Anne Loi from DHX. Philip Stamp took on the role of supervising producer, and Craig Martin served as executive story editor. The project was pitched at the MIPTV conference in 2009. That same March, a press release announced test animation was underway for 52 eleven-minute segments, which could also be formatted as 26 half-hour shows. Production was initially scheduled to begin in fall 2009, aiming for a fall 2010 release, but delays occurred as the Henson Company continued searching for broadcast partners.
