Characters

Daniel Spellbound, voiced by Alex Barima, is an Afro-Latino orphan teenage ex-tracker who once found ingredients for magicians in a hidden magical world. After breaking the tracker code, he must find an untrackable item to regain his status; in "The Tickle Pit," Jayce helps him present such an item, but Daniel ultimately quits tracking to join Lucy on a quest to seal Dread Magic. Hoagie, voiced by Deven Mack, is a human-turned-pig who can sniff out magic and serves as Daniel's best friend and sidekick. Lucy Santana, voiced by Chantel Riley, is an African-American Dowser magician working for the Bureau of Magical Enforcement who becomes its new head at the end of Season 1; in Season 2, she can become the new Primus if she finds the Primus's Scepter, and she achieves this by season's end. Shakila "Shak" Chinda, voiced by Saara Chaudry, is a Bengali tracker and the younger sister of Jayce Chinda. Viktor Albright, voiced by Philip Craig, is the factor of Albright Worldwide and an alchemist who was an old friend of Daniel's father, Duncan Spellbound; he is killed by Camilla in the Season 1 finale. Other characters include Tyson, a hotdog vendor; Hector, a spider centaur; Burden, a tracker and wizard; Bixby Prospero, a half-goblin tracker; Nurenya, a mermaid queen from Shanghai; Spanos, a weapon forger; Haruspex, an oracle; Elyse, a former dowser and rival of Lucy who dies in "The Scepter and the Sacrifice"; Camilla Thomas, the former head of the Bureau of Magical Enforcement who becomes the Dark Mage; the Pie Maker, an evil diminutive witch; and Kel, owner of Mystic Outpost.

Reception

Riya Singh of Midgard Times described the show as suitable for all ages and a must-watch for animation lovers, noting its message of teamwork and the importance of friends. Rishabh Chauhan of The Envoy Web commented that a leitmotif associated with Jayce's sinister side is catchy and memorable, and that the pacing in season 2 is more effective with fewer detours than the first season, while retaining a sense of warmth and potential.
