History
Business Live began as Business Edition, which was shortened from 60 to 45 and then to 30 minutes on 9 November 2010. It was taken off air in April 2011, replaced by a BBC World News broadcast. Tanya Beckett’s Business Edition returned on 18 June 2012 at 22:00 GMT, originally as an edition of World News Today: Business Edition. The programme ended in June 2015 to allow Outside Source and World News Today to simulcast on the BBC News Channel. It came back in November 2015, replacing a World News Today slot under the name Business Live. On 7 October 2019, it was renamed Worklife.
About the programme
The morning edition of this business programme is broadcast live from London, featuring two presenters. It airs on the BBC News Channel and BBC World News at 08:30 GMT or BST, which is 09:30 CET. The show covers the latest news from Europe, closing views from Asia, and a recap of the United States. Following the top story, headlines are delivered from a catwalk. The broadcast then shifts to a presenter seated at a desk. The catwalk presenter handles the first half of the programme. After a segment looking at the markets, the presenters join the guest at the desk. The latter half includes a social media segment followed by a review of the business papers. This edition was the programme's first until November 2015, when a second evening edition launched.
The evening edition is presented live from both London and New York. Tanya Beckett and Michelle Fleury serve as the main presenters. It broadcasts at 20:00 GMT or BST (21:00 CET) exclusively on BBC World News. During the top stories, the New York presenter appears first, followed by the London presenter at the desk. The headline introduction mirrors that of the morning edition. The programme is primarily presented from the catwalk in Studio C at New Broadcasting House in London. This evening edition originally began as an edition of World News Today, replacing the Business Edition, which aired at 21:00 GMT or BST (22:00 CET). The Business Edition was also a part of World News Today until 2010 but was itself replaced by Outside Source in June 2015.
