Lore & Background
The 1974–75 Sabres tied for the best record in the NHL in the regular season. The Stanley Cup Final series included the legendary Fog Game (game three), played in heavy fog at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium due to unusual heat and lack of air conditioning. During the game, Sabres center Jim Lorentz killed a bat with his stick, the only time a player killed an animal during an NHL game. The Sabres won that game on an overtime goal by Rene Robert, but Philadelphia won the series 4–2.
