Danny Gare was a forward for the Buffalo Sabres from 1974 to 1981. He was drafted in the second round (29th overall) of the 1974 NHL Entry Draft. Gare wore jersey number 18 for his first season before switching to number 16. He scored 50 goals in the 1975–76 season and 46 goals in 1980–81.

Gare was part of the Sabres' early success, scoring 50 goals in the 1975–76 season. He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in December 1981, ending his Sabres tenure after the 1981–82 season.
