Playing career

Strömgren began his professional career in the 2020-21 season with Modo Hockey of the HockeyAllsvenskan, also playing for Modo's junior teams and on loan to Örnsköldsvik HF of the HockeyEttan. After being drafted by the Calgary Flames in the second round, 45th overall in the 2021 NHL draft, he made his SHL debut for Rögle BK during the 2021-22 season but struggled to secure a regular roster spot, spending most of that season with Rögle's junior club. Early in the 2022-23 season, Strömgren moved from Rögle, who had won the league championship the previous season, to Brynäs IF after a mutual contract termination, playing 45 games with Brynäs. On March 29, 2023, the Flames signed him to a three-year entry-level contract starting with the 2023-24 season. He then signed an amateur-tryout contract with the Calgary Wranglers, playing two games late that season. Before the 2023-24 NHL season, he scored twice in the Young Stars Classic against the Winnipeg Jets. Assigned to the Wranglers on September 29, 2023, he scored his first AHL goal on December 23, 2023, in a 5-1 win over the Colorado Eagles, his 24th game of the season.
