Series summary
A prequel comic by illustrator Nik Holmes establishes that tech mogul Declan Hugh released "5G Wi-fi" by exploiting a legal loophole, pushing untested Wi-fi infrastructure that weakened the blood-brain barrier and caused infection. The infection began with a pink eye and led to zombification across much of the UK. The army ordered civilians to the Monroe Shopping Village for extraction in seven days. The series is set six months after the outbreak and follows ten contestants who have reached the abandoned shopping centre. They take refuge in a two-level clothing store converted into a barricaded shelter with a communications room. The army periodically asks the survivors to nominate individuals to leave the shelter for dangerous tasks like retrieving food and supplies. After seven days, remaining survivors are evacuated to a "global tropical quarantine area" until the crisis ends.
