Cast and characters

Sadie Jenkins, played by Georgia Lock and often called 'Sadie J' or 'Sass', is a teenage girl who frequently takes advantage of her friends' talents and claims credit for them, though she always realises her mistakes and her friends remain loyal. She speaks to the camera and often finds herself in dilemmas she resolves with various solutions. She describes herself as the 'only girl in a boy's world' until the final episode, when she learns she will have a baby sister.

Sadie has a boyfriend named Taylor at the start of the third series, whom her father initially rejects but later accepts. She is protective of her younger brother Danny since their mother died when they were young, a fact mentioned in Bridesmaidamundo, and is considered a tomboy, as shown when she wanted to attend a car show with her dad in Mamalicious. Delia 'Dede' Baxter, portrayed by Priyanka Patel and called 'Deeds', is one of Sadie's best friends.

She is highly intelligent and determined to achieve perfection in all areas of life. Despite having little in common with Sadie, Dede is often exploited for her talents, such as when Sadie uses Dede's singing voice to mime in Promalicious. Dede loves the show Space Cargo, and her mother Maddy is an obsessive JLS fan. Christopher 'Kit' Karter, played by Ronan Carter, is a flamboyant teenager who participates in productions and follows celebrities, with a secret talent for cooking.

He shares Sadie's desire for social status and is called 'Kitty Kat' by others. In the third series, his parents divorce, and Sadie tries to use this to get One Direction tickets to cheer him up, but Kit is irritated by her self-centeredness. He later decides to move to Brazil with his father, upsetting Dede and Sadie. Danny Jenkins, played by Will Nye, is Sadie's outgoing younger brother who is always up to mischief with his best friend Jake.

In Mamalicious, he helps Keith reason with his girlfriend and succeeds. Keith enlists his help on a date via Bluetooth, but Danny leaves with the game instead. Jake Healy, played by Bobby Fuller, is Danny's best friend and is considered the more calm and sophisticated of the two, with more luck with girls. Vanda Viazani, played by Mel Giedroyc and known as 'Ms. V', owns the Y-Diner which Sadie, Dede and Kit often visit.

She is described as 'scary diner owner' by Sadie in the theme tune, is Russian, and shows a lighter side in the third series. Steve Jenkins, played by Steve Spiers, is Sadie and Danny's father who runs a mechanic business called 'Mr Motors'. He is kind but gruff, considered 'uncool', and loves his family. In the third series, he tells Sadie he has been dating Beverley, who runs a salon.

Keith Woods, played by Alfie Stewart, is Steve's mechanical apprentice with low emotional intelligence, often lazy, and lives at the Jenkins' house since the beginning of the second series. He has a different girlfriend in each episode and once asked for Danny's help for a date. Chloe, played by Rose Liston, was a waitress at the Y-Diner in the first series, referred to by Sadie as 'Trog face', a beautiful Canadian girl. Ashlii Summers, played by Nina Jaspaul, is Sadie's nemesis introduced at the beginning of the second series, daughter of Beverley, who blackmails Sadie.

In series 3, she becomes Danny and Sadie's stepsister after her mother and Sadie's father become engaged, and they become friends. Rico, played by Alan Hall in Series 3, is an assistant at Bev's salon of Spanish descent, whom Sadie considers as a new 'bling friend' after Kit leaves. Beverley 'Bev' Summers, played by Sharlene Whyte, is Steve's girlfriend and mother of Ashlii, runs her own salon, and in the final episode it is revealed she is pregnant with Steve's child.

Roger the Dog, played by Cracker, is Sadie's dog who is frequently seen. Recurring characters include Imogen (Daniella Eames), Danny and Jake's 'frenemy' who beats them at video games; Whitney Landon (Georgina Campbell), a cheerleader rival of Sadie's; Taylor Bell (Thulani Storm Sityata), Sadie's crush who becomes her boyfriend; Theresa Babcock (Eleanor Rowe), Dede's friend who speaks little; Gary Gilmott (Robbie Gee), Steve's childhood friend who appears in multiple episodes; Yollo (Jay Worley), Kit's Welsh cousin who likes rugby; and Captain Skylo (Robert Evans), also known as Tom Roberts, Dede's character.

Music

The theme song, 'In a Boy's World', performed by Georgia Lock, was available on iTunes but later removed. It was revamped with a different beat and melody for the second and third series. A soundtrack for the show was planned for release in 2013, including original songs by Georgia Lock and tracks by artists such as The Wanted and Cheryl Cole, but this idea was probably scrapped after the final episode. A complete boxset of Sadie J was announced by the BBC for Christmas 2013, but on 1 November 2013 the BBC stated that since the soundtrack was postponed, there would be no point in making a DVD.
