Sooty Heights

Sooty and friends run a hotel in this sitcom series.

Sooty Heights is a British children's television programme that ran on the CITV block of ITV between 27 September 1999 and 11 December 2000. Richard Cadell created and presented the show, which followed Sooty & Co and marked the first time Cadell acted as Sooty's right-hand man and eventual owner, after Matthew Corbett stepped down in 1998. The series centres on Sooty, Sweep, Soo, Scampi, Richard, and Liana as they manage the Sooty Heights hotel, which serves as both their home and business. It kept the sitcom style introduced in The Sooty Show and carried over elements from the earlier programme, including Sooty's camper van and the characters' bedroom.

Background

The series ran for two series, each consisting of 13 episodes. At its conclusion, Liana Bridges left the programme, while the show was revamped and renamed to Sooty in 2001. The cast included Richard Cadell as the main presenter, who maintained many aspects of The Sooty Show and Sooty & Co in Sooty Heights, including the sitcom format and various gags. Liana Bridges served as Cadell's co-presenter and also handled the responsibility of narrator alongside Brenda Longman. Brenda Longman voiced Soo on the programme and also made a physical appearance as the character of Dotty, whom Longman devised to be an eccentric hotel owner who bore no rivalry with the others, and mainly offered help with problems running Sooty Heights.
