Series overview

The programme encouraged viewers to focus on sound by having Razzledazzle ride magical slides from a blue-screen base to four areas: Rhyme Time, Chit Chat, Bish! Bash! Bosh!, and Once Upon A Tale. Rhyme Time, presented by Sarah Hope, asked audiences to recognise everyday sounds set to poems, often repeated to encourage reciting.

Chit Chat showed children in activities with relatives, emphasising natural communication. Bish! Bash! Bosh! featured children acting out rhymes and sequences set to music, repeated to promote rhythm and rhyme.

Once Upon a Tale, presented alternately by Mina Anwar and Patrick Lynch, built short stories with predictive and repetitive elements to expand vocabulary. Each episode ended with the Not So Long Song, composed by Ben Lee Delisle, performed by Razzledazzle, the children, and the presenters. Ten episodes at a time aired for four hours during the early morning BBC Schools slot.

Episodes

Twenty 20-minute episodes of Razzledazzle were produced, mixing CGI animation and live action, and aired on BBC Two, CBeebies, and within BBC Schools' output. Some extras used 2D Flash Animation. Most of the show, except the introduction, was filmed in front of a green screen to allow the host to interact with the animated character. The first episode, Kitty, aired on 14 February 2005. The final episode, The Chugga Chugga Bus, aired on 11 March 2005. Other episodes include Ruby Rabbit, Dennis The Donkey, Don't Wake the Baby, Carry Harri, Dog, Fisherman Tim, Marvellous Monster, Bibble Bobble, Not Another Puddle, Carlton's Magic Trainers, King Bling, Farmer Louise, Molly in the Trolley, Mrs Mickle, Unfortunately, The School Run, The Big Beastie Thing, and Why the Moon is Made of Cheese.
