My Magic Pet Morphle

Characters

Mila is a young girl who often wears blue clothing and leads adventures with her magic pet. Morphle is the titular red rabbit-like pet who can shape-shift into anything, speaks in a high-pitched voice, and refers to himself and others in the third person; he is more like a sibling or best friend than a pet. Jordie is Mila's stepbrother who joins their adventures, sometimes outside his comfort zone, and carries a Magic Pet Primer tablet.

History

Arthur van Merwijk, an animation school graduate, started a YouTube channel for preschoolers based on nursery rhymes in 2011, producing every episode himself that first year. His sister, a professional singer, created the music, while van Merwijk drew the characters and his friend Daan Velsink handled rig-animation. After saving profits, van Merwijk set up a studio in Amsterdam and hired additional animators. The channel's first video, a Christmas special, uploaded on 19 December 2011; the first non-Christmas video followed on 14 January 2012.

Morphle originally had a tail until it was removed in 2014. In 2015 the show adopted its current TV-show format, treating videos as episodes, which led to substantial viewership growth; by 2016 it had millions of monthly views. Moonbug Entertainment purchased Morphle TV in November 2018, when the channel had about five million subscribers and 3.7 billion views. In February 2021, Moonbug partnered with Poetic Brands for branded children's apparel.
