Background
Walley-Beckett and Johnson had worked together on the season three episode "Fly", and she was given more creative freedom than before; the intensity of the story made production emotionally difficult for those involved. Later analysis focused on the episode's parallels with Percy Shelley's sonnet "Ozymandias", its treatment of redemption, and Walt's phone call to Skyler. The episode has been universally acclaimed as the series' finest and one of the greatest television episodes ever made, with praise for its writing, acting, direction and the payoff of threads set up since the pilot; Walley-Beckett won at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards.
