Revierderby (Schalke 04)
The Ruhr derby, Germany's greatest rivalry.
Revierderby is the name for a match between two clubs from the Ruhr, the old mining region of North Rhine-Westphalia, and it usually means Borussia Dortmund against Schalke 04, the region's two most successful clubs. It is known abroad as the Ruhr derby and is considered the biggest rivalry in German football.

Reader's Guide
Schalke won the first meeting 4-2 on 3 May 1925. Games between other Ruhr clubs, such as VfL Bochum, MSV Duisburg or Rot-Weiss Essen, are called a kleines Revierderby, a minor derby.
