Der Klassiker is the name for the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, which grew heated during the 1990s. Dortmund are the largest club in Germany by membership after Bayern.

Reader's Guide
In 2011-12 Dortmund won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal with Bayern second in both; in 2012-13 Bayern took both trophies and the DFL-Supercup from Dortmund, and beat them in the first all-German Champions League final. Just before Dortmund's 2013 semi-final it was announced that Mario Gotze would join Bayern for 37 million euros.
